KUCHING (March 4): A new site is being considered for future Ramadan Bazaars in Serian, said Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus.
He said that his team and the Serian District Council (MDS) are currently evaluating a more strategic location for Ramadan Bazaar and similar events, ensuring convenience for both traders and visitors.
“Aspects such as site size, parking facilities and accessibility for visitors from inside and outside Serian will be given priority.
“No matter what the celebration, we want to ensure a suitable location for the bazaar so that all levels of society can enjoy the festive atmosphere and the convenience of buying food,” he told the media after visiting the Serian Ramadan Bazaar at the Taman Komuniti yesterday.
A total of 66 stalls are operating at the Serian Ramadan Bazaar, offering a variety of food and drinks.
John emphasised that the Ramadan Bazaar is not just a place to buy food and drinks, but also a platform to strengthen community relations regardless of race and religion.
He added that the Ramadan Bazaar is well-patronised by people of various faiths, not just Muslims.
Also present at the event were the Serian district officer Inting Nyami, MDS secretary Tay Guan Huat, councillors and community leaders.
