RM850,000 Agricultural Road Project In Kedup Slated For Completion By January 2027

TEBEDU: The implementation of an agricultural road project worth RM850,000 in Kampung Mayang Kawan here will serve as a major catalyst for the community's economic growth when fully completed by January 2027.

The 2.8-kilometre project, under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) initiative, not only strengthens rural infrastructure networks but also provides more efficient access to farming and livestock activities for local residents.

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development and Kedup Assemblyman Datuk Martin Ben stated that the government's investment through high-impact projects like this proves a continuous commitment to comprehensively empowering the rural economy.

“With an allocation of RM850,000 and a completion target of January 2027, this project will bring significant changes to the residents. Better access means transportation costs can be reduced and agricultural produce can be marketed faster,” he said during the project's groundbreaking ceremony here on Friday.

He also encouraged residents to take full advantage of the upcoming facilities by expanding their agricultural and livestock activities in the area.

“When the infrastructure is complete, economic opportunities will open wider, and residents must be proactive in cultivating the land to increase household income,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, a village leader of Kampung Mayang Kawan described the clear project timeline and the funds allocated as giving residents confidence in the government's seriousness in developing rural areas.

According to him, once the project is completed, it is expected to have a direct impact on increasing productivity and the economic wellbeing of the village community.
