TEBEDU: The Serian Division Pre-Christmas Celebration brought together more than 200 civil servants and community leaders at Dewan Masyarakat Tebedu on Friday, fostering unity and festive spirit among agencies from Serian, Tebedu and Siburan.
The event was graced by Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Martin Ben, and Tebedu Assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada.
Tebedu District Officer Gerard George Entigar, who chaired the organising committee, delivered the welcoming remarks.
In his speech, Gerard conveyed an apology on behalf of the Serian Resident, who could not attend due to family matters, and thanked all agencies involved for their cooperation in hosting this year’s division-level celebration.
He said the Pre-Christmas gathering was more than just a festive occasion, noting that it serves as an important platform to strengthen camaraderie among multi-ethnic and multi-faith communities.
“Christmas brings the message of love, peace, hope and sincerity. It allows us to pause from our busy duties, reflect on the year that has passed and prepare for the year ahead,” he said.
He emphasised that unity between agencies and the community is essential in ensuring the success of government programmes, and praised the collective effort that enabled the smooth organisation of the event.
The evening featured lively choir performances, Christmas-themed activities, exchange gifts, and lucky draws that added to the festive cheer.
Food preparation was a collaborative effort involving various agencies, including contributions from KMKK Tebedu.
The celebration successfully strengthened bonds across departments and reflected the spirit of cooperation that defines the Serian Division.
Organisers expressed hope that similar gatherings will continue in the future to nurture harmony and togetherness among civil servants and the wider community. -UKASnews
