KUCHING (Nov 30): A total of RM1.81 million has been allocated to 15 mission schools in the Tarat constituency under the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) Assistance Fund for 2025.
The allocation was announced by State Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, who emphasised that the initiative is part of the Sarawak government’s ongoing commitment to support faith-based educational institutions.
According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit report, Sagah said the funds are channelled through the Mission Authority to assist schools with upgrading works, facility maintenance, and the purchase of educational equipment, with the aim to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
“This allocation must be used strictly for the purposes stated in the application letter,” he said during the handover ceremony in Siburan on Saturday.
The Tarat assemblyman also urged school management boards to prepare and submit their expenditure reports promptly to ensure the funds are properly processed by Unifor,
He stressed that transparent financial reporting is crucial to avoid any potential complications with oversight bodies like Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the National Audit Department.
Reiterating the state’s commitment, Sagah confirmed that the government will continue to support mission schools in their efforts to provide better facilities and resources for students and staff.
