SERIAN (Aug 22): Danu Lake in Serian is set for a major transformation as Tecktonic & Sons Holdings Sdn Bhd launches its ambitious Danu Serian project, a 34-acre mixed-use development featuring Sarawak’s first water theme park.

The integrated development will include a 12-storey serviced apartment block with 172 units, a 42-room hotel, a sports centre complex, commercial mall, pavilion, kiosks, an open piazza, and several shoplots.

At the heart of the project is a three-acre water theme park designed to international standards. Landscaped by a renowned Thai architect, the RM40 million park will feature world-class amusement facilities in a garden-style leisure setting, envisioned as a key tourism draw for the state.

Tecktonic & Sons managing director Lee Chin Teck said the concept was inspired by Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, following the success of Tasik Biru Resort City in Bau.

Speaking at the launch event at Roxy Hotel Serian, Lee highlighted Serian’s strategic location as the gateway to Kuching, noting that travelers from Miri, Bintulu, or Sibu must pass through the town.

“You simply can’t miss Serian, and most of all, the Serian Danu Water Theme Park – it’s right by the Pan Borneo Highway,” he said.

Lee projected the theme park could attract up to 10,000 visitors weekly, translating to over half a million annually. He also announced an early-bird offer of eight percent discount for the first 50 buyers of the serviced apartments.

“This will be the first water theme park of its kind in Sarawak,” he said, adding that the project will be completed within two years.

The launch was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who commended Serian’s rapid growth, citing township renewal initiatives and the completion of the Serian Conference Centre.

“Danu Serian is the final missing link in Serian’s development journey

“This is more than just a mixed development — it’s part of Sarawak’s nation-building vision. We want Serian to be well-developed and to serve as a benchmark for Borneo,” he said.

The event also witnessed a contract signing between Lee and Beston Rides Co Ltd Zhengzhou president An Zhi Qiang.
